About This Experience

This tour covers the two headline winelands towns and the tram in eight hours, and it does something most winelands day trips skip: it drives out of Cape Town past Langa, the oldest township in South Africa, with the guide explaining what you are looking at rather than pretending the road runs through empty countryside. Whether that belongs on a wine tour is a fair question — but it is honest about the landscape between the city and the vineyards.

From there the day settles into the familiar shape: Stellenbosch, with its Cape Dutch gables and its 150-plus wineries, then over into Franschhoek for tastings and a section on the wine tram.
