From Cape Town: Stellenbosch Four Estate Full-Day Wine Tour

About This Experience
Wine Flies built its reputation on doing one region properly instead of three superficially, and this is that tour: four Stellenbosch estates, hotel transfers, lunch and the tastings, plus a guided drive through the town itself.
Stellenbosch earns the full day. It is the second-oldest town in South Africa, its wine route was the first in the country when it was founded in 1971 with eleven members, and it now coordinates a network of more than 150 wineries. Four estates is enough to show you how different they are from one another — which is the thing a single-stop tasting can never do.
The inclusion of lunch is what separates this from the cheaper half-days: the price you see is close to the price you pay. Only tips and soft drinks sit outside it. It is 18-plus and not suitable for guests with mobility impairments, and the day runs about eight hours.

What Travelers Say
Rated 4.8/5 by 269 verified GetYourGuide travelers.
This was by far our most favorite activity. Our guide Henry was energetic, fun, knowledgable, all-around a great guy. The estates were top notch, especially the boutique one where we did wine matching to cheese & chocolate. The session there was superb. The van is comfortable, with great music selection from 80s & 90s. All the occupants of the van bonded and had a great day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is lunch included on this Stellenbosch wine tour?
Yes — lunch, hotel transfers and the tastings at all four estates are included. Only tips and soft drinks are extra. That is unusual for a winelands day tour from Cape Town, where lunch is almost always at your own cost, and it explains the higher headline price.
Why spend a whole day in Stellenbosch rather than seeing three regions?
Because four estates in one district shows you how much variation there is inside a single appellation — different slopes, soils and styles — while a three-region tour gives you one estate each and a lot of driving. Stellenbosch also has the deepest concentration: over 150 wineries on a wine route founded in 1971, the first in South Africa.
Can children join?
No, this is an 18-plus tour. It is also not suitable for guests with mobility impairments. Families should look at a half-day Stellenbosch tour, which does allow children.
How many wines do you taste?
Four estates, each with its own flight — expect a substantial day of tasting. Lunch in the middle is part of why the day works; eat properly and pace yourself.
